The U.S. President has expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Egyptian President for Egypt’s critical role in reaching a ceasefire in Gaza. Biden said, “I extend my sincere gratitude to President al-Sisi and the senior Egyptian officials who played such a critical role in this diplomacy.”

During the call between the two Presidents there was also a discussion about strengthening the Gaza ceasefire, delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, and the upcoming reconstruction efforts in Gaza. They also discussed ways to revive the peace process between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

The U.S. President also praised Egypt’s efforts in supporting the Libyan political process, as well as touching on Iraq and recent developments there. The discussions also extended to the topic of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), and the U.S. President expressed his commitment to helping Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia reach a diplomatic resolution that meets the needs of all three countries.
