According to Boost, a digital strategy consulting firm, e-commerce transactions in Egypt will hit USD5bn in 2021, while transactions across the Middle East will total around USD71bn. The breakdown of transaction types shows electronics are the most purchased products, representing 28% of the total value of transactions, followed by fashion at 21%, food & personal care at 19%, toys & hobbies at 19%, and furniture & appliances at 12%. When looking at the sellers, D2C (direct-to-consumer) companies like Amazon comprised 50% of the total transaction values. The consulting firm predicted that fashion will be the category witnessing the highest e-commerce demand in the near term due to its advanced supply chain and flow of new products.
