The EBRD’s (European Bank for Reconstruction & Development) Managing Director for the South & East Mediterranean revealed in an interview with al-Maal newspaper that the bank is targeting investments of over EUR1bn in Egypt this year. The investments will focus on green, sustainable projects that are environmentally responsible. They will also be directed at projects that address financial and economic inclusion, digitization and the digital transformation, and the encouragement of industrial activity. Last year, the bank provided funding of around EUR1bn, most of which was focused on projects related to social responsibility, women in the workforce, and funding for banks.
