The Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources revealed that Egypt is planning to build industrial cities in the Eastern Desert with a focus on mining and related activities. The goal is to add value to the mineral resources that are extracted, instead of exporting them in raw form at low margins. The plans involve establishing manufacturing complexes for phosphate fertilizers along with training facilities to improve the human capital involved in the activities. Auctions for mining concession areas for various resources have been updated with a requirement that the bidder must submit a detailed plan of how they will add value to the extracted resource.
