Egypt is entering the green hydrogen production industry, which marks another chapter in the government’s environmental and renewable energy plan. In the presence of the Egyptian Prime Minister and the Minister of Electricity, an agreement was signed with Siemens to launch a pilot project with a 100-200MW electrolyser capacity. The goals of the pilot project are to test and develop the regulatory and logistical environment, attract partners and customers, and stimulate early technology deployment. Siemens will also promote the transfer of related technologies and help attract new investments.

Green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis using renewable energy, almost eliminating the emissions released through traditional production methods such as the gasification of coal or steam methane reformation.
