In a joint statement between the two countries, Qatar announced their intention to invest USD5bn in Egypt in the near future. This follows the UAE’s recent announcement that it will be investing USD2bn in Egypt very soon, by acquiring a number of stakes in Egyptian companies. Saudi Arabia has also deposited USD5bn with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), as well as pointing towards large-scale investments coming soon.
