The U.S. announced that it will be donating 14mn doses of its Covid vaccine supply to “regional priority” countries which include Egypt. A future announcement will detail the specific amounts that will go to each country, as well as the type of vaccine. This is part of the U.S.’s plan to donate 80mn doses globally by the end of June 2021. Around 75% of this amount will be given to COVAX, the humanitarian vaccine distribution program run by the WHO (World Health Organization), while 25% will be sent directly to selected countries.
