CAPMAS (The Center for Public Mobilization & Statistics) reported that total investments made by the UAE in Egypt shot up by over 169% YoY to USD1.9bn during 1H21/22. Total trade between the two countries rose by over 9% YoY during 1Q22 to reach USD1.2bn. Egyptian exports to the UAE surged 70% YoY to USD577mn, while imports dropped by 19% YoY to USD643mn. During 2021, total trade between Egypt and the UAE registered USD3.6bn. On a related note, remittances from Egyptians working in the UAE reached USD3.5bn in FY21/22.
